Manifest Destiny – Doha Edition, curated by Ingrid LaFleur, brings together artists and creative technologists that explore new modes of thinking, planning, and building for the Afrofuture. The exhibition will be held at The Gallery at VCUarts Qatar from March 6 to April 9, 2022. This exhibition is in collaboration with the International Design and Art Conference Tasmeem 2022: Future Radicals.

Manifest Destiny asks the question, what is the destiny of women? What is the destiny of African women, of Arab women in our rapidly transforming world? How will their desires and visions shape our futures? How does the Divine Feminine expand our understanding of womanhood? How can Afrofuturism and Arabfuturism provide a road map for female futures?

Ingrid LaFleur is a globally recognized curator, design innovationist, pleasure activist who has been invited to speak at high-profile national and international platforms including the Centre Pompidou (Paris), TEDxBrooklyn, TEDxDetroit, Ideas City, New Museum (New York), Harvard University, and Oxford University. In 2020, she founded The Afrofutures Strategies Institute (TASI), to research the future impact of emerging technology on Black bodies and to co-create alternative destinies using ethical imagination. LaFleur holds a B.A. in Art with a focus on Art History from Spelman College and attended Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University for her M.A.
